A photo from Barbara Bush’s funeral service, featuring four former U.S presidents, three former first ladies and current first lady Melania Trump, has been going viral on the internet and several Democratic Party members are facing backlash from social media users for making a HUGE mistake while posting the photo.

Let’s see if you can spot the difference in the original picture and the edited version posted on social media by Texas Democrats.

Barbara Buh Dies at 92

Barbara Bush, a literacy campaigner and matriarch of the influential family of two United States President, her husband George HW Bush and son George W Bush, died at her home on April 17, 2018 at the age of 92.

The former first lady had reportedly been in declining health from 1989 to 1993 and had stopped seeking medical care which eventually led to her death. Her funeral held at Houston’s St Martin’s Episcopal Church was attended by more than 1500 people including several renowned politicians and former presidents.

The photograph from the funeral which featured former presidents George HW Bush, George W Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama as well first ladies Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama and Melania Trump, all smiling brightly at the camera as George H.W. Bush’s spokesperson captured the moment, could arguably be, one of the most iconic photos in the history of American politics.

The Significance of the Photo

The picture was significant for a number of different reasons which have nothing to do with the fact that the current President of the United States Donald Trump was conspicuously absent from the important political event.

Interestingly, former president Barack Obama has replaced Trump in almost every photo including the one taken at the funeral where he cheerfully occupied his successor’s position, anchored in the middle of the three former presidents, and first ladies.

Accompanying the group of former presidents and their wives was Melania Trump, whose own husband was missing from the event, as she stood next to an awkward Michelle Obama who kept her hands hidden behind her back as a clear sign of confidence and superiority.

All Smiles

The photograph, which was taken prior to the funeral service, was organized by Jean Becker, George H.W. Bush’s chief of staff requested all the former presidents and first ladies to group together in front of the camera before they lined up for the formal walk.

The photographer revealed that the atmosphere was very upbeat and there was seemingly no tension between the iconic political figures who had all gathered to give support to former President Bush 41 in a time of profound loss.

The funeral was attended by most of Bush’s extended family, including his grandchildren, as well as former White House personnel, Congress members, judges and Cabinet secretaries.

But the iconic photo went viral on the internet when people discovered that Texas democrats had posted an alternate version of the picture where the current first lady Melania Trump was completely cropped out of the photo.

Texas Democrats apologized after posting the edited photo claiming that they had mistakenly cropped the First Lady out

Spot the Difference

Democratic Party Headquarters from Lubbock County responsible for posting the edited photo on their official Facebook page issued a public apology saying that they had not meant to exclude Melania from the group intentionally.

The group’s vice chair, Leo Flores, said that he saw the edited photo on his Facebook feed and reposted it on the Democrats official page without realizing that someone was missing from the picture. It wasn’t until the post started receiving angry comments from people calling the democrats ‘childish’ for deliberately cropping the first lady out.

After the public backlash, Leo Flores made a second post on the page which included the unedited photo which showed the complete group – including Melania Trump – as well as an apology which read, “We didn’t realize that someone was missing until users pointed out in the comments.”

Most people continued to blast the Democrats for the childish move, despite the apology, and refused to believe that the mistake was innocent. One user wrote in comments, “It’s obvious that you did it on purpose. It’s extremely pathetic.”

Do you think the democrats made an honest mistake in cropping out the first lady or was the move intentional?
