There’s no denying the fact that Garth Brooks is one of the greatest country music singers to have ever graced the country scene. His style and blend of pop & country revolutionized the industry and he went on the dominate the charts at almost every occasion. Of course, he wasn’t born into wealth and success and it was down to his passion, talent, and determination that saw him become the legend that he is today. We’re going to follow the life of Brooks starting from his birth all the way to when his earnings matched his chart-breaking. This is his story.

The Birth of a Legend

On February 7, 1962, a baby was born to Troyal Raymond Brooks, Jr. and Colleen McElroy Carroll. They didn’t know it at the time, but this baby was destined for greatness. This baby was, of course, Garth Brooks (although his full name is Troyal Garth Brooks). Garth’s father worked as a draftsman for an oil company and his mother recorded for Capitol Records. While they weren’t swimming in money, they were earning enough to avoid credit card debts. We can perhaps thank his parents for his talents, as they enforced a ‘must participate’ rule to their kids every week during a talent night they would host each week. It was for these talent nights that he mastered the art of playing the banjo and the guitar.
