5 Things You Must Do Every Day If You Are a Remote Worker
Today’s technology provided us with many opportunities that never existed before. One of them is the opportunity to work from your own home, which means that you do your job without leaving the comfort of your house. The number of people who work from home increased greatly in the last few years –– it has grown up by 103% since 2005. Fast Company magazine states that 25% of business leaders said that more than three-quarters of their employees won’t work in a traditional office by the year of 2020.
Working from your home offers you convenience and flexible schedule. It can also encourage you to become more productive than ever before since your opportunities raise, and you can also integrate your healthy lifestyle habits into your own working schedule.
Whether you are a part-time or a full-time home worker, there are five things you should do every day to have a more successful career.
You should create a business environment
One of many good things is that you can set up your home office any way you want. Some people who work from home say that a person can easily be distracted by the freedom of working from home and that this can affect their discipline. It is recommended to create and adhere to schedule in order to stay focused.
At the same time, you should determine the place for work with access to all the tools you will need. You further must limit distractions, such as television, or your family around you. Temptations around you can decrease your productivity and cause you to procrastinate or even to become irresponsible. If you fail to do this, your remote working can actually become your frustration— and that isn’t what you want.
“Hopefully, as companies give more attention to the importance of work-life balance, more and more people will be in a better position to decide and act more holistically on what’s important to them.” — Mohamed El-Erian
You should have nutritious meals
If you want to maintain your will and productivity, eating nutritious food is essential. Whether it is a breakfast or lunch, you must ensure to have a good quality meal, so you can stay on the right course and produce excellent results. Some experts say that willpower is tied directly to glucose, which basically means your habits will also make you more or less productive. Harvard Business Review also emphasizes the importance of healthy meals. Fast and fatty food can give you an initial boost of energy but will slump shortly after. You should fill your plate with fresh fruit and vegetables plus proteins. These will provide you with energy to keep you productive during your working hours.
You should go out more
Even if you have a lot of job waiting, you should get at least 15-20 minutes of sunshine every day. Getting out has multiple health benefits for you. You will feel refreshed, better, and get vitamin D from the sun. If you walk outside, you will surely feel a lot better, too. Don’t wait to feel a mental block to go out. Instead, do it when you take a break from the things you have to do. Don’t worry —this will only improve your skills. You can also try to work from the place outside, like a cafe or a nice place in a park. All you need is Wi-Fi, and many places (even parks and streets) provide it for free!
You should exercise
Being busy doesn’t mean that you don’t take a good care of yourself. A lack of physical activity can decrease energy levels, which will further decrease your productivity, too. Furthermore, decreased energy levels cause chronic illnesses like diabetes, heart diseases, etc. The best is to walk outside if you’re able to. This way, you will go out and at the same time exercise. Try your best to integrate at least 20-30 minutes of exercises in your every day. By so doing, way you will stay on the right track and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
You should make yourself happy
Do whatever makes you happy every single day. Use your flexible schedule to reward yourself or to take a break when you need one. Working straight hours can decrease your concentration and make it even longer to finish work. Reward yourself in a good way, by a good quality snack or a walk. You can also grab a coffee in a nearby coffee shop. It is important to motivate yourself since you are alone in your home office. You should use all the benefits from remote work and remain positive. You can also do some of your hobbies in order to relax and feel refreshed for a new day to come.
