Who doesn’t know about the epic Harry Potter franchise? The books may be arguably better than the movies, but the motion pictures version did bring to the spotlight some amazing talent! One of the breakout stars, thanks to J.K. Rowling’s world, was Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who played the main protagonist, Harry Potter.
Owing to the success of the franchise, Radcliffe says that he’s already financially secure. This way, he gets to carefully select projects he wants to be a part of, instead of accepting any role out there because he needs the money.
Radcliffe’s enthusiasm
One of the projects the actor is enthusiastic about is Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Radcliffe will star in an upcoming interactive special next year.
The special edition will see the show’s lead character Kimmy Schmidt, perfectly portrayed by Ellie Kemper, take on her biggest adventure. You must have watched other interactive shows on Netflix, haven’t you?
This one won’t be any different, with the characters’ decisions being at the mercy of the viewers. It isn’t as grim as you may have understood it though – it’s actually pretty hilarious as you have the luxury to direct the story into various branches, getting different jokes while at it. And what’s better than a good laugh?
While announcing Radcliffe’s inclusion in the special interactive, the streaming platform also teased that Reverend Richard (Jon Hamm) could make an appearance. If you haven’t got a clue who this is, make sure you get all caught up in matters Kimmy Schmidt!
Other stars from the original show that will feature on the interactive will be Kemper (obviously), Tituss Burgess who plays Titus Andromedon, Jane Karowski who portrays Jacqueline Voorhees, and Carol Kane who plays Lillian Kaushtupper. You’re already excited about all this, aren’t you? You’re not the only one!
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is currently in its fourth season, which is also its last. According to Tina Fey, the show’s executive producer cum co-creator, 2020’s interactive special is just their way of giving the show a proper goodbye.
Primetime Emmy nominations
Without a doubt, Fey’s show deserves a good sending off. It has, admittedly, had a great run. Over the four seasons it has aired, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has been nominated 18 times for the Primetime Emmy Awards. Of the 18 nominations, four were in the Outstanding Comedy Series Category. Although the show didn’t win any awards, that it was put up for consideration is recognition enough.
According to Scott Meslow, a show critic, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt stands out in this streaming era as one of the great sitcoms. Do you disagree?
Given how it set itself up, the series was geared from greatness right from the start. Lead character Kimmy Schmidt was abducted when in eighth grade by Rev. Richard.
Along with three others, Kimmy remained in captivity for 15 years, living under the impression that they were the sole survivors on earth after a nuclear apocalypse. After being rescued, Kimmy decides that she’d rather explore the world, and thus begins her adventures.
