A 5-star surprise!
Alexandra Kinova, a pregnant mother from the Czech Republic, was in for a big surprise the fateful day she had an ultrasound. She had gone to check up on her twins, or so she thought… After performing a number of checks, the doctor in charge was intrigued with what he found. In fact, he discovered that the young mother was carrying not one, not two, not three, or four – but five babies! Quintuplets indeed!
Urgency
Without waiting any further, the 23-year-old was taken to the operating table by the Podoli hospital staff in order to have a Caesarian section. Considering the gravity of the situation, there were more doctors than the usual present to handle the case.
Baby Joy
This was the second time Alexandra was pregnant, as she already had a son. Taking into consideration the complications that could ensue, a different team of doctors was present to take care of each baby born. The above is the first baby boy born; after this one Kinova gave birth to another four! Their son helped her to name her kids.
Special Delivery
The father, of course, made sure that he was present at the hospital during labor. The family only knew that she was pregnant with five children but they were still unaware of their gender, as for two of them it didn’t show during the scan. The four boys were named Michael, Daniel, Martin, and Alex. The girl was named Terezka.
5 Of A Kind
It was later known that the five babies were the first ever quintuplets which were conceived naturally in Prague. And this is what made them famous worldwide, guaranteeing that they will be remembered forever in the history of Czech Republic
Gentle Loving Care
Fortunately, the situation was under complete control, and the mother and her new-born quintuplets were shifted to ICU (Intensive Care Unit) just in case any unforeseen difficulties arose.
Future Health
The (now) mother of six didn’t imagine that she was carrying five babies until the last month. And after giving birth to quintuplets, she was a bit worried about their future health. But she was relieved when the doctors told her that the quintuplets have a 95% possibility of growing healthy.
One in 50 Million? Not For Her!
Chief Nurse Gabriela Kalouskova said she had never seen something this extraordinary before! Aleksandra was the first woman in the Czech Republic to ever have a set of quintuplets born, and this made her case quite unique! What’s particularly striking about her pregnancy is that her insemination happened naturally and without any help from fertility drugs. This is very rare as women who conceive more than one baby usually do so only after fertility treatment.
It’s a Full House!
Alexandra and her husband Antonin were planning to have a brother for their younger son, who was four years old at the time. But now, he has more than enough brothers, and even a sister to play with! Although we bet the hospital didn’t charge them five times the price for the 5x Cesarean section, financially it’s been tough for the couple. They’ve had to accept money as well as donated clothes (for babies) from residents in their home city of Milovice.
