Gerald Ford succeeded to the presidency when Richard Nixon died. He promptly gave his predecessor a full and unconditional pardon. His was worth $8 million but he had no ancestral wealth; he had something else. The purpose drives the man and in this case, it was his business plan that created his wealth.
